About This Spot

Stepping into Taco Rico on South Higuera Street, you’re greeted by a warm and relaxed vibe that’s distinctly inviting—a place where the steady hum of friendly conversation blends with the scents of sizzling meats and fresh tortillas. The atmosphere moves at an easy pace, where locals and visitors alike settle in to enjoy genuine Mexican fare without fuss or fanfare. It’s the kind of neighborhood spot where the staff knows how to turn a closing-time order into something cheerful and sincere, reflecting the kind of community spirit that makes a restaurant feel like a gathering place rather than just a stop on your day.

The space itself offers plenty of room to sit back and soak in the moment, whether you choose a shaded outdoor seat or dine indoors among simple yet thoughtful touches that invite you to relax and linger. Here, breakfast flavors mingle with the savory promise of a freshly grilled meat plate or the light crunch of taquitos, crafting meals that feel honest and grounded—comfort food done with care and respect for tradition. There’s a satisfying balance in each bite, a nod to familiar hometown recipes with an emphasis on fresh ingredients and straightforward preparation.

This is a place where the food carries stories—from the marinated meats grilled just right, the crisp shell covering a filling as hearty as Grandma’s own, to the thoughtful shakes of fresh salsa and chips shared around the table. It’s local, approachable, and unpretentious, yet with notes of something crafted thoughtfully—a meal that rewards patience and encourages conversation, not rush.

In all, Taco Rico presents itself as a quietly confident culinary spot, resonating with people who appreciate both quality and a welcoming, unhurried atmosphere. It’s less about making a show and more about creating moments—where the honest flavors of Mexican cooking unfold alongside smiles, casual chats, and a genuine sense of coming home for a while.

We ordered the 3 crispy tacos. Authentic fried crispy, like my grandma's. They were cheerful and it was closing time Christmas Eve, they cheerfully took our orders. Packed with beef. Thank you! I'd definitely come back.

Super tasty! The meat is marinated and sliced perfectly, then grilled up just right. Feels like honest, healthy food. Bonus points for having unsweetened iced tea among the fountain beverages. Nice outdoor seating and friendly staff too.

Food was good. Prices were higher than I thought for a taco place, but they had good quality so I didn't mind the extra cost when you get good food

The finest array of totally delicious Mexican cuisine anywhere. I have traveled far and Toco Rico is #1 on my list.

No salsa Verde, big red flag. For more than $16 my supreme nacho box is half full...... But, the food had good flavor. Fresh ingredients, meat well flavored and cooked, soft, not dry. I guess they should just add more chips to fill it up.

I tried the Birria Torta for the first time today, and it was so good!!!

Cute taco shop! Everything is freshly made here, and the portions are generous. Their salsa is delicious and the personnel are so friendly and welcoming. A big plus is their use of cotija or a similar authentic white cheese—definitely no bland yellow American cheese in sight!
